Silk Avia Takes Delivery of First New ATR 72-600 Turboprop Aircraft in Central Asia

Dark/Light Mode (20/02/24)  Uzbekistan's Silk Avia has taken delivery of its first brand new ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft.

The ATR 72-600, which was delivered by ATR to Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) in December 2023, is part of an order for five new ATR 72-600 aircraft, with two being provided by NAC and three coming directly from the manufacturer.

Now part of Uzbekistan Airways, Silk Avia will integrate the five brand new aircraft into its existing ATR fleet, enhancing the airline’s ability to serve a wider range of destinations and meet the growing demand for efficient and low-emission regional air travel.

Silk Avia's ATR 72-600 aircraft can carry up to 70 passengers and has a range of up to 1,400 kilometres.

“Silk Avia has set an ambitious goal of becoming a leader in air transportation on domestic routes of the country,” said Shukhrat Khudaykulov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways. “Silk Avia plans to constantly expand its route network, increase the number of flights and efficiently operate them using new ATR 72-600. This type of aircraft will help to provide the necessary conditions for a comfortable flight. Moreover, our common goal, the goal of New Uzbekistan, is to make flights affordable and develop domestic tourism of the country. It will undoubtedly be achieved through flights on ATR brand turboprop aircraft.”
