TransNusa Launches Jakarta - Singapore and
Jakarta - Guangzhou Flights
(22/11/23)
TransNusa Aviation Mandiri (TransNusa), an
Indonesian low-cost carrier, has launched flights between Jakarta
(CGK)
and Changi Airport (SIN) in Singapore, as well as Guangzhou Baiyun
Airport (CAN) in China.
TransNusa will operate the daily Singapore flights
with Airbus A320 aircraft configured with between 168 and 174
seats.
Flights are scheduled to depart Jakarta at 07:45
and arrive at Singapore Changi Airport T2 at 10:40. Flights from
Singapore are slated to leave at 11:40, arriving in Jakarta at
12:25.
TransNusa is operating the thrice weekly flights
between Soekarno – Hatta Airport T3 and Guangzhou, China with 174-seat
Airbus A320 aircraft.
Flights are scheduled to depart Jakarta at 18:10
every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, arriving in
Guangzhou at at 00:10, the following day.
Flights from Guangzhou
are timed to leave at 01:25 every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday,
arriving in Jakarta at 05:40.
TransNusa will increase the frequency of
the CGK-CAN flights to daily from 20 December 2023.
“Post Covid-19, we initiated intensive market
research and based on the data obtained, we knew that traveller’s behavioural patterns had changed,”
said TransNusa Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Bernard
Francis. “Our next step was to develop a customised business model for the
targeted passengers. We implemented the business model on 14 April
with the launch of our maiden international flight and we have been enjoying
a significant growth pattern since then.”
In addition to Singapore and Guangzhou, TransNusa has,
since April, launched scheduled international flights to Kuala
Lumpur and Johor.
On the domestic front, the airline, which
operates as a low-cost carrier, operates scheduled flights to Bali and
Jogjakarta.
“We have plans to further expand our international
routes,” added Datuk Bernard. “TransNusa will
experience significant growth in 2024.”
Established in 2005, TransNusa
started life as a charter airline and began
commercial flights in 2011. After ceasing operations due to
challenges caused by the
Covid pandemic, TransNusa relaunched itself in 2021 as a
low-cost airline in its domestic Indonesian market and as a full
service regional airline earlier this year. The carrier still
operates the two different business models.
