Hong Kong Airport to Close Centre Runway as
Third Runway Familiarisation Begins
|
(05 July 2022, 10:45 +07)
Hong Kong's Airport Authority (AAHK) has
announced that the familiarisation operation for aircraft
taking-off and landing on the new third runway at Hong Kong
International Airport (HKIA) will be conducted from 8 July 2022
onwards.
The operation will allow local and overseas
stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the related operating
procedures and collaborative arrangements.

On 31 May 2022, AAHK received the renewed
aerodrome licence issued by the Civil Aviation Department (CAD).
That followed flight checks for the Third Runway
which were satisfactorily completed in April 2022 to ensure that
the equipment, flight procedures and airfield ground lighting
system are in compliance with the requirements of the
International Civil Aviation Organization and the CAD.
As familiarisation of the Third Runway
begins, the Centre Runway will be closed for reconfiguration from
8 July 2022. The work is scheduled to be completed along with
other parts of the Three-runway System project, including the
Terminal 2 (T2) expansion, new T2 Concourse, Automatic People
Mover and Baggage Handling System, in 2024, as scheduled.
