(28 Mar 2022, 12:04 +07)
Flight checks for the third runway at Hong Kong
International Airport (HKIA) commenced on Saturday, 26 March 2022.
The checks, which verify that related air
navigation service equipment, flight procedures and airfield
ground lighting system fully meet the standards of the ICAO, are
expected to be completed in April 2022.
The work is being conducted by Airport Authority
Hong Kong in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Department and
the Flight Inspection Center of Civil Aviation Administration of
China.

The new third runway, which will be put into
operation later this year, will be designated as the north runway
(07L/25R).
The previous north runway (07L/25R) was re-designated as the
centre runway (07C/25C) in December 2021, an important milestone
for the expansion of the airport into a three-runway system (3RS).
The pavement works of the third runway have now been
completed, while related infrastructure facilities including taxiways,
airfield ground lighting system, and rescue and firefighting
facilities, among others, have been substantially completed.
