350 Delegates Expected to Attend ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 in Sihanoukville, Cambodia

(14 Jan 2022)  Cambodia will host the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), one of the most important annual events in the region, from 16-22 January 2022, with TRAVEX, the travel trade show component of the event, on from 19-20 January.

Approximately 350 people from more than 27 countries and regions are expected to take place in the ATF 2022, including tourism leaders and officials, international buyers, exhibitors, media as well as trade visitors and others from within the tourism industry.

The event will take place at the Sokha Beach Resort (pictured) in Sihanoukville under the theme “ASEAN – A Community of Peace and Shared Future”.

A popular seaside port city in the south of the Kingdom, Sihanoukville has been designated as a special multi-purpose economic zone and the Sokha Beach Resort houses the largest meeting space in the city.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia, it is my honour to officially announce that Cambodia is ready to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 in Sihanoukville,” said H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, Royal Government of Cambodia. “This coastal city has grown to become a leading international and national centre of trade, commerce, and tourism. It is also one of the most culturally varied and dynamic population centres in Cambodia. Since the health of travellers is our utmost concern, we have put together a plan to rebuild the tourism sector safely through stringent hygiene safeguards to prevent the spread of COVID19 and instill reassurance among our community. We are committed to run the ATF 2022 in a safe physical format.”

Cambodia re-opened to fully vaccinated international travellers on 15 November 2021.

According to official statistics, as of 13 January 2022 over 14.3 million people in the country of 16 million have received their first dose of COVID19 vaccine, 13.7+ million their second shot and 4.3+ million their third jab.

All delegates attending the ATF 2022 are required to wear face masks and observe social distancing. Frequent touch points at the venue will also undergo regular sanitisation and disinfection.
